RENAMA at Practical Action Meeting on LPG as an alternative cooking fuel
On Wednesday 9th of May, RENAMA members attended a validation workshop in Lilongwe. The meeting, hosted by Practical Action, should discuss the feasibility of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) being a potential alternative to charcoal and wood as cooking fuels.
Over 30 participants from different backgrounds such as suppliers, regulators, NGO members or university students shared ideas on the future of cooking in Malawi. The meeting was based on two studies that elaborated the current use of cooking fuels in Malawi as well as the cost and fuel efficiency of the four cooking fuels charcoal, firewood, electricity and LPG.
A complete report as well as the two studies can be found on CONREMA.
