For several decades, research and pilot projects have been conducted in and for developing countries to make cooking
healthier and stop depletion of forests, as well as to enhance micro-electricity supply to marginalized communities.
However, only in few of these countries was the lobby strong enough, the political decision-making and coordination
mechansims effcient and sustainable enough, and existing development aid partners well-funded and persistent enough
to make these technologies known to a majority of the people and to scale successful projects up nation-wide and
internationally. The same applies to Malawi.
